Volcano Information: Mt. Meakan Volcanic Alert Level Raised to Level 2 (Restrictions on Access to the Crater)
The eruption alert level for Mt. Meakan has been raised from Level 1 (be aware that it is an active volcano) to Level 2 (restrictions around the crater). Within approximately 500m of the Ponmachineshiri crater, be on the lookout for large volcanic rocks that may be scattered in a ballistic trajectory during an eruption.
