What's New

The eruption alert level for Mt. Meakan has been raised from Level 1 (be aware that it is an active volcano) to Level 2 (restrictions around the crater). Within approximately 500m of the Ponmachineshiri crater, be on the lookout for large volcanic rocks that may be scattered in a ballistic trajectory during an eruption. Follow instructions from local authorities and do not enter dangerous areas.
Take care on the downwind side, as volcanic ash and small volcanic rocks may be carried by the wind and fall far away.
