SearchMt. Oakan
Mt. Oakan stands imposingly at 1,371 meter in the east of Lake Akan. Its dignified conical shape has led the Ainu to call it "Male Mountain". Mountain path starts from Takiguchi, which is the east end of Lake Akan. The beginning part of the trail is flat with picturesque views of "Lake Taro" and "Lake Jiro" and you'll have breathtaking views of " Lake Panketo" and "Lake Penketo" from the top and ,on clear day, stunning views of Shiretoko Mountain Range. The best hiking season is from June through October. The round hike takes 7 hours on average.
