On the west side of Lake Akan lies a tiny minshuku. Lake Akan Onsen has many simple hot springs, but this minshuku features a rarely seen "bicarbonate chloride spring", having a good reputation even among hot spring fanatics. The lodge itself is renowned for friendly, at-home service. In mountain climbing season, they thoughtfully care for guests who depart early in the morning, which attract many repeat guests. Behind the building, head to the lake shore to discover the breathtaking view of magnificent Mt. Oakan contrasted against the Lake Akan. A monument engraved with verses by Showa period poet Ujou Noguchi also lies here.
