Lake Harutori
This inland sea lake within Kushiro City is designated as a natural monument of Japan for its role as a habitat for the hibuna goldfish. Over 130 types of birds come flying to the lake, which is surrounded with abundant nature including 400 species of lakeside plants. The surrounds are designated as Harutori Park, and the Harutori Nature Center is located along the lakeside, providing opportunities to learn about nature. The facility also includes lakeshore walking trails, a wild bird sanctuary, and a wide variety of things to see and places to relax.
