The eruption alert level for Mt. Meakan has been raised from Level 1 (be aware that it is an active volcano) to Level 2 (restrictions around the crater). An eruption occurred at the Ponmachineshiri crater of Mount Meakan at approximately 1:17 PM on October 25th. No large volcanic rocks have been reported from this eruption; however, Volcanic activity at Mount Meakan is increasing, and there is a possibility of future eruptions of a similar scale.
