Mt. Meakan
Mt. Meakan is a live volcano and one of the twin peaks of Akan Mountain Range which surrounds Lake Akan. It stands at 1499-meter in the southwest of Lake Akan. There are 3 trail courses ( Akankohan, Meakan Onsen, and Lake Onneto ) to reach the top and Akankohan course which starts from the shore of Lake Akan beats the other two in stunning views. The round hike takes 5 hours. The other two courses Meakan Onsen and Lake Onneto takes about 4 hours 10 min. and about 4 hours 50 min. respectively. Every route offer chances to observe high-altitude alpine plants and awe-inspiring volcanic scenery.
